Dancing Brick/ SPINNING at the Milton Keynes International festival 2010
Milton Keynes-based theatre company Dancing Brick perform Spinning, a moving and humorous tale about a young woman who sees a man at a traffic light. Before they have the chance to speak the lights turn green and he is gone. Enraptured, she pedals on and on in earnest search, travelling over mountains and under seas, up to the moon and back down to earth until at last, and having cycled around the world, she arrives back where she started. Created in collaboration with the illustrator Serge Seidlitz, Spinning is a live cartoon - a boldly visual, highly inventive trompe loeil that uses whirring mechanics, contemporary puppetry and striking illustrations to tell this bitter-sweet love story.

A booklet sent out to young members of Raiffheisen in Austria, each page illustrates another thing you can do now you're old enough. I've uploaded some of the unapproved versions together with some of the final approved versions, funnily, the client preferred the unfinished versions, but I like the full colour executions.

Birmingham Childrens hospital Doodle Weekend, 17-18 April
April 2010
These pics were taken in Birmingham at the Bullring on the last few days of a week long 'draw-a-thon' which fellow Debut artists, Harry Malt, Jon Burgerman and Celyn took part in too. The live drawing project was organised to help raise money for a new hybrid theatre in the hospital, which will allow different procedures to be carried out on the same patient, in the same room, at the same time. Meaning more patients/children can be treated. With some of the money raised also being used to increase the number of intensive care unit beds available in the hospital from the current 20 to 31. Which in turn will reduce the need to send children to other hospitals. I drew the outlines and invited members of the public colour in the white spaces, the final baords will be used to decorate the walls at the hospital.
The Doodle Bar
SUMMER 2009
White washed from top to bottom and with a specially commissioned doodle mural of the river Thames flowing across the walls, the Doodle Bar invites everyone to create a vision of the imagined city - a collage of doodler's hopes and fears. "The waiters will be wearing white jeans and shirts," says Jules Cocke of filmmakers Squint/Opera, who along with illustrator Serge Seidlitz, came up with the idea for the bar. "You can doodle anywhere you want on their clothes. It's up to the waiters where they draw the line." read more at The Guardian

Foursquare
GQ magazine
This years online phenomenon, a game/app called 'Foursquare' - i hadn't heard of it either, but tried it out as research for this commission, seems a bit complicated, but i think the general idea is you 'check in' on your smart phone wherever you go, and the person with the most 'check-ins' becomes mayor of the location, its a game for the facebook/ twitterers out there, you can share info with other Foursquare users and thats about it. Will it catch on? Watch this space and buy this months GQ magazine for the full article.

Summer 2010
A few months ago I rented a barn in Cornwall, while i was there I made this map of Switzerland for a Swiss drinks brand called Sinalco. They wanted a map of Switzerland as a 'summer island' showing the many things that you can enjoy whilst in 'die Schweiz' - I was in Switzerland last week and can confirm - there's alot going in in Switzerland this Summer - Montreux Jazz festival, Basel art fair, goat-bikers, monkey tennis and fire-eaters.

Metropolis
Tiger Translate
Asian cities are blooming. Their bright lights are attracting people in their millions, who swarm towards these expanding centres to discover new lives, new jobs and new experiences. Tiger Beer is enjoyed in the greatest cities around the world and wants to see your interpretation of Metropolis. This will form part of an evolving artwork featuring collaborative visions from the East and West. The end result will be a large collaborative piece, made up of unique perspectives from the East and West. The completed artwork will be exhibited at Tiger Translate events and exhibitions, online and publicized by the global art and design media.
This is my submission, I have altered the colours here, as the original was using the Tiger branding colour pallette.

I loved this book!! I loved the games, they helped my brain focus! The pictures are amazingly drawn. In fact the pictures make the book as they are crazily drawn. I loved all of the facts about scientists-I feel like I've truly learned something and I'll never tire of this book - Darcey roberts (age 8), 21 November 2009.

I was invited to draw on a pillar in the creative department at BBH in London, I went in months ago to paint it bright and stripy and then left it for ages, I finally found a weekend to go in and get the drawing done. I didn't really know what to do, so i made it up as I went along and this is what came out.
